As summer slowly drifts away and the autumn season steeps near we are now going into those in-between stages of seasonal fashion. You know what I mean, it’s when the temperatures become cooler and the weather starts to fluctuate between hot and cold. Not the most ideal situation when it comes to getting dressed for the day.
To be honest, it’s not my most favorite time of the year as I will forever be a summer lover, however, it is nice because there is still time for you to where those pieces you have loved throughout summer. Mini dresses and skirts, tank tops, t-shirts and shorts are all still acceptable to where there is just a little layering that needs to be done.
These are all the wardrobe staples you will need to get you through the transitional summer to autumn phase. They are all basics that can be easily paired with any layers, bottoms, and shoes of choice so you won’t have to worry about the struggle of finding an outfit to where throughout the in-between season.
Oversized Knit Sweater
An oversized knit sweater is perfect for the days when the weather is a bit cooler and a cozier fit is much needed. I like to pair my oversized sweaters with knee-high boots and some simple jewelry to finish off the look. Simple, comfy, yet super fashionable and definitely a staple piece.
Oversized Button-Up
An oversized button-up shirt makes the perfect classy fit. Wear it with knee-high boots, tights if you need extra warmth, and a trench coat for layering.
Long Sleeve Bodysuit
A simple long sleeve bodysuit is a must-have because it can be paired with literally anything. Wearing it with a pair of frayed, jean shorts, and sneakers or converse would make this the perfect summer to autumn outfit.
Neutral Midi Dress
A midi makes the perfect transitional season dress because it’s not too long and not too short. It can be worn in numerous ways. I would love to give it some edge by dressing it with an oversized faux leather jacket and mid-level booties.
Long Sleeve Mini Dress
A long sleeve mini dress is a perfect staple for when the weather is a bit on the cooler side. I’d where this piece with mid-level to knee-high boots and a cropped faux leather jacket for a cute transitional season outfit.

Oversized Jackets
Can you tell I have an obsession with anything oversized? They just make the best layers and not to mention they are the most comfortable thing you will ever own! Pairing any oversized jacket whether it be faux leather, a bomber, a blazer, or a hoodie with any basic top and bottoms really enhances the look while also maintaining its comfort. It’s a win-win situation!
Cropped Sweater
A cropped sweater is another perfect transitional staple because it adds just the right amount of coziness without making you feel too warm. Once again, it can be paired with any bottoms whether it be a skirt of any lengths, shorts, and jeans. Personally, I love to wear my cropped sweaters with immensely distressed boyfriend jeans and pile on the layered jewelry.
Cropped Cardigan
Cropped cardigans make a cozy addition to an outfit. Pair it with a tank bodysuit and baggy jeans for a lightly layered, cozy outfit.

Cargo Pants
Moving onto bottoms, cargo pants were the perfect bottoms for summer and they will make the perfect pairing for the autumn season. I love this staple piece because it offers comfort and adversity. It can give a masculine touch to a feminine outfit or it can add to the edginess. Cargo pants fit almost any style and they are definitely an essential for the in-between seasons.
Mini Skirt
Mini skirt paired with a cropped sweater and booties makes the perfect summer to autumn combo. It adds a feminine touch to a casual or edgy style.
Baggy Jeans
You can never go wrong with a pair of baggy jeans, they can be worn any time of the year no matter the season. Wear neutral tones with a cropped long sleeve top, tennis shoes and dress it up with dainty jewelry for a classy, casual look.
I hope you lovelies were able to gather some inspiration and ideas of staple pieces to buy for the upcoming autumn season.
